Born and raised in Northern California, Julie learned to knit in over her New Years 2010 Lake Tahoe vacation, from her sister, Lauri. She has been knitting almost non-stop since then, publishing her first pattern less than a year after initially partying with tangly yarn. Julie started her first blog, a sewing & knitting blog, called Tarnished Copper, in August of 2010.

Now a proud, new mother she spends most of her free time, what little there is with knitting needles in hand, finding that baby-hats are a quick fix for calming a creative need. In her other spare time, she loves to cook.

Her favorite fruit is the yellow nectarine.
